Sin City

This was my first solo trip abroad. A month before this I didn't even have a passport. I hadn't been on an airplane since I was a child. So, what made me get out of my comfort zone and take a trip abroad? Well, I was always something of a homebody, basically just got used to repeating the same daily wakeup-work-home-sleep routine. One day, after 4 years of working with the same company, I get the news that it's closing down and soon found myself jobless with a lot more spare time. So, I decided to do what any responsible jobless adult would do and book a weeklong trip to Vegas.

For this trip I stayed at the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino. It's near the middle of The Strip, is not too pricey and has a free tram to the Bellagio. It is also walkable to another free tram to access the more southern Casinos.

All these photos were taken with a HTC EVO 3D, which is pretty evident in the quality of the images; they're all somewhat blurry. I do also have copies of the images in stereoscopic 3D, so that's a plus to shooting with a 3D camera phone.

It was a lot colder than I expected. I did not really research the weather before leaving and assumed the desert would be warm all year round, but some nights the temperatures dropped below 0C briefly. I've since learned to check the weather before traveling.

I spent my first few days exploring the different casinos on The Strip and took a visit to Madame Tusseauds Wax Museum near The Venetian.

A trip to Vegas wouldn't be complete without a trip to Fremont Street. Here I visited the older Casinos and had an blast seeing the Fremont Street Experience. On the next few days I also went back to some of The Strip casinos and visited the Bellagio Conservatory.

I got to check a few things off the old bucket list while in Vegas. I got shoot a P90 at the Guns & Ammo Garage. Being a Stargate SG-1 fan, it's been something I've wanted to do for a while. I also got to fly in a helicopter for the first time. I booked a Las Vegas Grand Canyon tour which included a helicopter flight to and from the Grand Canyon as well as a landing and view from inside the Canyon. Nothing was more exciting than when the pilot played "Danger Zone" over the headsets in flight. He was also well informed and provided commentary about all the landscapes we passed while in flight.
